Meera of Karmana

Volume 1 of a five-volume spiritual adventure series. In the fictional village of Karmana, a girl named Meera apprentices under a guru to master Vedic Ayurveda, guided by her personal Devi, Latika.

by Nitin Antoon — Spiritual Fiction, Young Adult

Synopsis

Meera of Karmana follows its protagonist's growth as a healer, alongside the ideas of dharma, karma, and moksha — themes drawn from Ayurveda, meditation, yoga, and self-discovery. The story is told through a cast including Meera's friend Maadinee and the guru's household, and Volume 1 ends on a cliffhanger.

Nitin Antoon wrote the series after repeated travels through India — its temples, villages, and living traditions of Ayurveda and devotion — and has said he writes characters with complex perspectives rather than simple good-versus-bad roles. Volumes 2 through 5 are planned to complete the series.

Meera of Karmana is a work of fiction; its village and protagonist are invented and are not based on the historical bhakti poet-saint Mirabai. Content guidance: mature themes include death, blood, hunting, poison, and a traumatic childbirth; no explicit sexual content.
